Hadera: transnational migrations from Eastern Europe to Ottoman Palestine and the glocal origins of the Zionist-Arab conflict

The article explores the interplay between transnational migration, cultural patrimony and political conflict, tying together former realms of Russian Ottoman Empires. It discusses role played by Jews in development Zionist-Arab conflict Palestine until 1948. focuses on Northern Sharon, where three distinct immigrant groups – Circassians, Bosnians settled 1870s–1890s. Methodologically, it adopts a new, twofold, approach to genesis tracing its roots within broader setting Eurasian migrations Palestine, stricter context ‘locality expressing glocality’, that is, specific colonies their under internal pressures outside interactions. In 1948, prior actions aimed at achieving ethnic homogeneity through coerced population transfers during disintegration imperial polities served as blueprint for some same Zionist immigrants plurality new Jewish State.
